Iran jointly nominates Iftar for UNESCO inscription

Iran has jointly submitted the nomination file for inscription of Iftar ceremony as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Iran has jointly submitted the nomination file for inscription of Iftar ceremony as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. 

The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts said to the local media that the dossier of 'Iftar and its related social and cultural traditions', was sent to UNESCO for further consideration. 

Ali Darabi noted that the inscription file "has been compiled at the suggestion of Iran and with the cooperation of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and will be presented to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage committee in 2023."

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.
